A rare photo of Norma Jeane around 14 years old.
Marilyn photographed by Andre De Dienes, 1949
“Some things sure were different once upon a time, for example in this picture of the campus bookstore in the ’50s, when you could buy cigarettes there, as well as other personal items. Of course, this was the same era when cigarette salespeople were welcome to visit the student union and pass out 5 cigarette sample packs of Lucky Strikes etc.! (Note the L&M cigarette ad displayed in the upper left of the photo.)”
Day 18 Favourite (legitimate!) biography written on Marilyn: Marilyn Monroe The Biography By Donald Spoto.
I believe this is the best Marilyn biography due to it being based on 35,000 of Marilyn’s personal documents and over 150 legitimate interviews. It is highly detailed on Marilyn’s family so much so that the first chapter doesn’t even start with Norma Jeane! It is very detailed on Marilyn’s death and focuses on the scientific facts of the Autopsy and not conspiracies and myths. The Afterword is used to dispel the many myths and conspiracies that have been written about Marilyn over the years. Although not 100% perfect as no biography is I believe as I know a lot of Marilyn fans do that this is the best and most legitimate biography.
